Gradötzkogel

This was a hike to our first peak above 3000 m. It was a great success. The scenery was very interesting, and the views were astonishing, especially from the peak itself, mainly because of its height and closeness to other impressive mountains, including Grosser Muntanitz (3232 m) and Grossglockner (3798 m).

In the morning, the clouds were covering the valleys. This is the rocky pyramid of Kendlspitze (3085 m).

This is a distant view of Grossvenediger (3666 m), with clouds gathered in the valley.

This huge mountain is... Rotenkogel (2762 m), the peak we hiked on the first day as a "warm-up".

This is the beautiful ridge of Muntanitz. It begins with smooth Wellachköpfe (3036 m) on the left, continues with the sharp peak of Kleiner Muntanitz (3192 m), and culminates at the wide mountain Grosser Muntanitz (3232 m). According to the guidebook, the trail to Muntanitz is very well marked and perfectly secured, and it goes only for a short part through a field of snow. We will probably aim at this mountain during our next holidays in the Alps.

This is the mountain we have just climbed: Gradötzspitze (3063 m). Wild rocks, fields of snow... - just something amazing!

The views around us were astounding!!!
