Schleinitz

This was a very nice hike to the top of a big mountain. The local scenery was just like in the Tatra Mountains, but the size of the mountain we climbed, the views that surrounded us, as well as the difference in altitude between the peak and the valley were much more impressive.

Our target of the day was the dark mountain in the background. We hiked along the ridge behind the guy in the yellow shirt (actually, this is Pawel).

A panorama from the peak of Schleinitz (2904 m).

There is a cross somewhat below the main peak. Of course, we didn't stop at the cross, like many people did, but we climbed the very peak of this mountain! Note that the difference in altitude between the peak and the valley was almost 2200 m!

A view towards the pretty lakes Neualplseen at the feet of Schleinitz.

A view from Schleinitz towards Hoher Prijakt (3064 m), another potential target of our hikes.

Pawel with the town of Lienz and the group of Lienzer Dolomiten in the background.

The small building on the left is the cable-car station we started our trip and were heading to after having conquered Schleinitz. By the way: Notice how wide and flat the valley is!

Lienzer Dolomiten again.

One of the pretty lakes at the feet of Schleinitz. There was a nice walking trail along the lakes.

These rocks look really weird, don't they?

This is the group of Petzeck (3283 m). We will probably try and hike it when we spend our next summer holidays in the Alps.
